A motorcycle gang re-kindled memories of the swinging 60s at a reunion.

The Saints was once a group of more than 20 Huddersfield based bikers who went on ride outs around West Yorkshire.

Around 50 years on, many members of the gang met up again for the first time since their teens.

Organiser, Peter Garside, said he had advertised the reunion in Examiner and more than a dozen people from the group’s heydays turned up for the get-together at The Spinks Nest in Birkby.

And he even organised for an old Triumph motorbike to be available for the get together to stoke the nostalgic banter.

“Apart from one living in Jersey and a couple that have moved to Australia, everyone’s still local,” he said.

“We used to meet up at coffee bars and ride out to Brighouse, Leeds or Sherburn.

“We’d meet at Larond in Birkby or the Granada in town and head off to Halifax or further.

“It was great to see people, there was a reunion about ten or 15 years ago but I didn’t go to that.

“It was a really good turnout and the memories came flooding back.

“We are now going to make it an annual event and meet up the first Friday in June every year.”

The Saints used to have their own business cards with the name of every member on the back.

Peter said the police got hold of the cards and would cross members names off when they got banned from driving.
