M1 trouble
Looks like there’s been an accident on the M1 northbound at junction 39 near Wakefield.
This is affecting traffic from Denby Dale heading towards Wakefield but the traffic is coping well.
M62
We’re getting reports of slow traffic on the M62 westbound due to a broken down vehicle between junction 27 and 26 for Chain Bar.
Let’s hope it’s sorted soon.

Gomersal Road to re-open next week
Oxford Road in Gomersal is set to re-open following a burst main last month. The road near the petrol station has been closed since 25th July and will now re-open on August 16.

Gunshot heard in Lockwood
Police say a gunshot was heard last night on North Street in Lockwood.
A man was arrested the same evening and is currently in currently in custody. Residents reported a heavy police presence on the street at 9pm last night.
The incident is unrelated to a gunpoint robbery on the same street on Tuesday, police say.
Rio 2016
Bad news for Huddersfield’s Olympic badminton player Marcus Ellis last night as he lost his match to Denmark.
However The 26-year-old from Bolster Moor remains confident of getting further at Rio.
Going for gold
I know it’s a bit early to get excited, but I’m not sure Royal Mail are doing the post box thing this year. Maybe we could have gold bus stops?

Felix's 5k challenge
And for some more positive news: Felix the Huddersfield Station Cat will embark on her 5k challenge today!
The puss is joining in the with Rio spirit and raising money for local charity Fairy Bricks.
The charity provide Lego for sick children and have built a life-sized model of the feline in plastic bricks.
Yorkshire Ripper
Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe will be moved from Broadmoor to a high security prison after being declared sane, it has today been announced.
The serial killer carried out two of his attacks in Huddersfield and murdered 18-year-old sex worker Helen Rytka.
He is serving a whole life tariff for the ruthless murder of 13 women.
Fatal accident in Mytholmroyd
An update for you on the man’s body and subsequent road closure on Burnley Road yesterday.
The man has been confirmed as a 21-year-old local man, with reports suggesting he may have lain undiscovered for 24 hours.
A red Yamaha motorcycle and debris was located nearby and enquiries are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of what took place.
The motorcyclist, was last seen in Hebden Bridge around 1.30am on Wednesday 10th August.
Sergeant Carl Quinn of the Major Collision Enquiry Team said; “This is a busy stretch of road and I would appeal to anyone that may have been travelling in and around the area who may have seen the motorcycle, or who has any information to come forward. Our enquiries are continuing to understand what has happened.”
Anyone who has any information that could help police should call 101.
Ed Clancy going for gold!
Huddersfield cyclist Ed Clancy will be going for gold today in the men’s pursuit finals at Rio. Team GB came within seconds of the world record in the velodrome last night.
If he clinches gold, he will be on par with tennis legend Reginald Doherty who took three golds and a bronze over a century ago.
