The deadline to re-open parts of Huddersfield bus station has been missed again.

Resurfacing work at the Upperhead Row site began in early March with only levels five and six affected.

The car park was supposed to re-open on March 23.

But in late March the council said it had been forced to extend the project to levels three and four and all four floors were out of action until April 6.

That deadline has now been pushed further until April 18.

Levels 5 and 6 of will not be ready until early May.

This means that until further notice, only short stay parking is available, and this is on levels 1 and 2 only.

The council are removing the old worn membrane, laying a new one and remarking the parking bays.

A spokesperson said: “The council appreciates that this may cause customers some inconvenience but would like to remind them that alternative long stay parking is available around Huddersfield ring road including Springwood, Cambridge Road and St Andrews Road. There are also short stay car parks.
