HUDDERSFIELD churches joined together in a Walk of Witness yesterday, Good Friday

The traditional procession began at Huddersfield Parish Church and passed local churches on the way.

Believers took it in turn to carry a wooden cross, which some 100 people followed.

Canon Catherine Ogle, the Vicar of Huddersfield, said: “It was wonderful. It was really, really solemn. We walked right around town pausing about five times along the way.

“The walk is to commemorate when Christ was crucified to save the world.

However, it’s not just a commemoration, it’s also to make it a reality for us now.”
