TWO Huddersfield singletons are hoping love will be in the air.

Both are to feature in the prime-time ITV1 show Dinner Date.

Adele Hayley, 26, of Golcar and Damien McKenzie, 30, of Crosland Moor, will both feature on separate dates in the second series of the dating-cum-cooking reality show Dinner Date.

In each episode a participant will choose three menus from five put together by members of the opposite sex. They then go on three dates with the “chefs”, who cook them a meal in their own homes.

After the three dates, all the chefs prepare for a night out at a swanky restaurant, but the participant can only choose one to go with – leaving the other two with a night in alone and a takeaway.

Adele, an adult support worker, said: “I loved watching the last series of the show so I applied a while ago then just forgot about it until a I got a call from the production company.

“I really love cooking and I am single so I thought why not?.

“I am quite fussy when it comes to men but I am looking for a loyal, funny and decent guy. I told the production company I don’t have a type.”

But despite her love of getting creative in the kitchen Adele found the Dinner Date filming a stressful experience.

She added: “It was quite an intense process, when I was cooking. I couldn’t open the windows because it would affect the sound and the cameras were watching my every move from 10am to 1.30pm. I didn’t have a minute to myself.

“That, combined with getting ready for a blind date, made it really difficult to enjoy it.”

Adele cooked up a storm for her date, but she is sworn to secrecy over what happens until her episode airs on Friday at 5pm.

She added: “I have my own allotment so I wanted to use vegetables from there and just cooked dishes which I enjoyed and hoped my date would enjoy.”

Fellow competitor Damien McKenzie, 30, said: “I applied for Take Me Out and I hadn’t got on yet and then I heard about Dinner Date, so I think it was word of mouth that got me on it.

“The production company came to my house and interviewed me.

“I was then selected to be on the show.”

Damien, whose ideal woman would be Cheryl Cole, added: “It was exciting and fun to take part in Dinner Date and it kept me on my toes.

“The production company have been fantastic and they are very enthusiastic about the show.”

A former All Saints High School pupil, Damien works for Code Blue Group in Sales and Marketing.

Jimmy Mulville, of production company Hat Trick, said: “The success of a second series of Dinner Date for ITV Daytime has given our factual entertainment output a real boost.

“We look forward to bringing more exciting ideas to the genre this year.”

Adele will feature on Dinner Date on ITV1 on Friday at 5pm and Damien will feature in next Monday’s episode.
