Two young people appeared in court yesterday charged with importing a CS gas weapon.
Gabriella Attidore, 20 and Shervin Soltani, 20, of Hawthorne Way, Huddersfield, are accused of importing a prohibited weapon between October 16, 2012 and November 21.
Prosecutor, Alex Bozman, said that on November 13 customs officers at Coventry Airport examined a package which turned out to be a Section 5 firearm.
Miss Attidore of Holme Park Court, Woodhead Road, Berry Brow, is also charged with possessing cannabis and cocaine at her home following a police search of the property on November 21.
The defendants’ solicitors said there would be no indication of plea and the bench agreed that the matter was too serious to be dealt with in the magistrates’ court.
The duo were granted unconditional bail by magistrates and told to appear at Leeds Crown Court on July 11.
If found guilty the maximum term of imprisonment is seven years.
