The Huddersfield Examiner has become Huddersfield Town’s official media partner for this season.

Throughout the season the Examiner will also help to promote the work of the Town Foundation charity by getting involved in community projects such as the Reading Diaries.

It will have a particular focus on World Book Week in early 2014.

Work away from the usual coverage of the Terriers in the sports pages has already begun with the Examiner partnering Town to promote the recent Huddersfield Town Open Day which attracted around 2,000 fans down to the stadium.

To celebrate the new partnership, The Examiner’s Diane Briggs and Natasha Maskery joined Town’s commercial director Sean Jarvis and marketing co-ordinator Jonathan Wilkinson at the Stadium.

Jonathan explained: “Huddersfield Town is a community club, so having the support of the local newspaper that serves that community is very important.

“The club has always enjoyed a good relationship with the Examiner, but this new partnership agreement will now take it on to the next level.

“Having the Examiner on board supporting several of our projects throughout the 2013/14 season will really help get our messages and events out to a wider audience – particularly the community projects that the club and the Town Foundation put a lot of hard work into on a daily basis.”

The Examiner’s field sales manager Diane Briggs added: “We’re delighted to have extended our long association with Huddersfield Town beyond what happens with the team on and off the pitch.

“We kicked off our joint venture by using the Examiner to distribute more official Town fixture posters across Kirklees than ever before, giving more than 24,000 readers details of Town’s games for the 2013/14 season.

“As the club’s official media partner we are really looking forward to getting involved with events that benefit our local community.

“This will include supporting events such as reading initiatives through World Book Week and becoming an associated partner of the Huddersfield Town Foundation, with the joint aim of improving the lives of local families.

“The Examiner was proud to sponsor Huddersfield Town’s popular open day in July, where we offered visitors an insight into exactly what it’s like to have many people’s idea of the dream job – Huddersfield Town correspondent.

“This is an exciting partnership which sees two organisations at the heart of the community join forces to bring news, sport and support to local people”.
