FIREFIGHTERS demonstrated their skills to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

Huddersfield Fire Station opened its doors for its annual open day on Saturday.

Hundreds of families packed into the headquarters on Outcote Bank to take part in the popular event.

Highlights included a high-rise rescue from the smoke-filled station tower and a chip pan fire display. There was also a birds of prey display, children’s rides and games, stalls and refreshments.

Last year’s event was hugely successful, with £3,000 raised on the day which was matched by Barclays bank.
