Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival 2013 runs from Thursday, August 8 up to and including Sunday, August 11.

The Food and Drink Festival takes places in and around St George's Square in Huddersfield, just outside the railway station.

With more than 70 stalls plus free workshops and demonstrations as well as entertainment and more there's plenty to do at the Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival this year.

But when's it all on?

The Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival 2013 runs between 10am and 6pm on Thursday, 10am to 10pm (last orders 9.30pm) on Friday and Saturday and the final day on Sunday runs from 11am to 6pm.

Thursday, August 8

11.30am – 1.00pm: Ready, Steady, Cook with our celebrity chefs

Following the official opening by Tony Shaw from Heineken, chefs Ashley Coley from the Royal and Ancient and the John Smith’s stadium resident chef Martin Russell, will be going head to head in a cook-off.

1.00pm – 2.00pm: The Woodman Inn Join head chef Will Orme from the lovingly refurbished Woodman Inn Thunderbridge as he tackles a tantalising fish dish which you will be able to copy at home easily.

2.00pm – 3.00pm: Huddersfield Veg Man Ashley Coley will be using local sourced produce to create three or four dishes that can easily be replicated at home. He will be promoting healthy eating especially the advantages this has on the eyes.

3.00pm – 4.00pm: Phil Leverington A ‘seasoned’ demonstrator, Phil, The Demo Chef, uses ingredients from the festival producers to demonstrate easy to replicate dishes with a twist. You never know what he’s cooking next, (and neither does he!).

4.00pm – 5.00pm: Minister of Chocolat e Chocolate tasting and a truffle making demonstration with Carl Turner.

5.00pm – 6.00pm: Ali Murad Head chef Tahir Javed will be cooking some favourites from his Asian menu.

Friday, August 9

11.30am – 1.00pm: Ready, Steady, Cook with Real Radio’s Dixie and Gayle Real Radio breakfast presenters Dixie and Gayle will be going head to head in a ‘friendly’ competition assisted by Ashley Coley from the Royal & Ancient and Will Orme from The Woodman Inn.

1.00pm – 2.00pm: Bedazzled Cupcakes Learn how to decorate cupcakes like the professionals!

2.00pm – 3.00pm: Kabana Aurangzeb Khan will be creating a platter of food as demonstrated on Asian TV.

3.00pm – 4.00pm: Phil Leverington A ‘seasoned’ demonstrator, Phil, The Demo Chef, uses ingredients from the festival producers to demonstrate easy to replicate dishes with a twist. You never know what he’s cooking next, (and neither does he!).

4.00pm – 5.00pm: Bradley’s Restaurant Andrew Bradley will be demonstrating some delicious items from the Bradley’s Restaurant menu.

5.00pm – 6.00pm: Chris Blackburn Chris Blackburn from Yorkshire Pudd and featured on ITV’s Food Glorious Food, shows us how to make Chinese Style Yorkshire Pudding with Duck and Hoisin Sauce as it appeared on the show.

Saturday, August 10

11.00am – 1.00pm: Sporting Challenge! Join chefs Ashley Coley from the Royal and Ancient and David Johnston from Temujin for the annual Sporting Challenge.

1.00pm – 2.00pm: Round Green Farm Come and sample a selection of venison dishes.

2.00pm – 3.00pm: Phil Leverington & Sharmini Thomas Sharmini teaches cookery courses in York and is a native of the southern Indian province of Kerala. The area is renowned for its vegetarian food. She also teaches non vegetarian dishes and caters to the favourite dishes of her students such as chicken tikka and lamb jalfrezi. Phil and Sharmini will be cooking up some fusion treats for festival goers.

3.00pm – 4.00pm: Foraging the Demijohn way! Demijohn, the award winning liquid deli from Scotland, has a wonderful selection of over 60 unique handmade British food and drink products on tap. Many have been created from simple hedgerow shrubs and fruits foraged by bare hands and old-fashioned elbow grease. Demijohn’s founder Angus Ferguson presents his enlightening tale of eight years at the forefront of the foraging revolution using some of his delicious products such as Sloe Gin and Elderflower Vinegar to help signpost this fascinating journey.

4.00pm – 5.00pm: Temujin David Johnson will be preparing his healthy stir-fry croc with home-made sweet & sour sauce on a bed of noodles.

Sunday, August 11

11.00am – 12.00noon: Quartz Lifestyle Gina Battye will be showing you how to cook a well-known family favourite in a healthier way. Come along to find out how to make simple changes to your meals so they are healthier for you and all the family !

12.00noon - 1.00pm: Smug Drinks Based in Holmfirth, Smug Drinks make delicious antioxidant packed juice drinks with no artificial additives or sugars. Join us for a taster!

1.00pm – 2.00pm: Coddy’s Farm Join Andrew Colwill for a demonstration on how to make delicious homemade burgers.

2.00pm – 3.00pm: Spicy Kitchen Come and see how to make the ever popular dish of Chicken Tikka Masala.

3.00pm – 4.00pm: Phil Leverington A ‘seasoned’ demonstrator, Phil, The Demo Chef, uses ingredients from the festival producers to demonstrate easy to replicate dishes with a twist. You never know what he’s cooking next, (and neither does he!).

4.00pm – 5.00pm: Island Spice Grill Carl will be demonstrating how to create some traditional Caribbean dishes including; Savoury Jerk Chicken, Scrumptious Goat Curry, Jamaican Rice and Peas and much more. To accompany this Carl will show you how to make his secret and very refreshing Caribbean rum punch.

Festival at Dusk

You can enjoy the festival until late on Friday and Saturday. The main bars and hot food stalls will be open until 10pm (last orders 9.30pm), giving a great excuse for some alfresco dinning and drinking in St George's Square.

Friday, August 9

Entertainment starts from 7pm when you can start the weekend in style with live music from local band Helter Skelter who will be performing the very best dance floor fillers.

Helter Skelter will be supported by local band, Propane Penny who came third in Oxjam’s Battle of the Bands competition.

Saturday, August 10

Again from 7pm, you can join the winner of the Oxjam Battle of the Bands competition, Under the Archway, supported by the runner-up, I love Colour.
