A woman badly hurt in a hit and run incident in Huddersfield is still in hospital.

The 24-year-old pedestrian is receiving specialist treatment for serious facial and head injuries.

She was hit by a car in Gledholt Road, Gledholt, last Friday morning just minutes after leaving her home to go to work.

Police are still hunting the driver of the car and have renewed an appeal for help.

Pc Craig Taylor said the victim is in Bradford Royal Infirmary having further treatment.

“She has very severe facial injuries and was very lucky it was not worse.

“She was hit by a car while on her way to work and the vehicle did not stop.

“We would urge the driver to get in touch with us and would ask any witnesses to come forward”.

The incident happened about 6am near the junction with Quarry Road. The car may be silver or white.
