Hind, 46,  disappeared from an address in Dewsbury on Wednesday, December 11 last year.

After he vanished police warned the public, especially children, not to approach him.

He was spotted on CCTV in Huddersfield with a man later identified as Mitchell.

Police later discovered human remains in the Huddersfield Narrow Canal in Milnsbridge.

Mitchell was subsequently charged with murder and has been on remand.

He appeared today wearing a white and blue shirt and held his hands on his chin as he listened carefully to the brief proceedings.

In 1991 Mitchell was jailed for life for the murder of his girlfriend.

He had bound the arms and legs of his partner Kathleen McKenzie before drowning her at their home on Westgate, Almondbury, a year earlier.
