Local talents Adam Patel and Iqbal Mohammed are getting to mingle with the stars at the Cannes Film Festival.

Magician Adam, from Dewsbury, will be performing while Huddersfield University filmmaker Iqbal brings his new mini-movie.

The French festival is one of the world’s most well-renowned, frequented by the likes of George Clooney.

Adam, from Dewsbury, will be bringing his magic to the red carpet as he performs at evening events.

The street magician and mind reader is currently filming his new TV show.

Adam said: “Besides from magic, film is one of my other huge passions so it’s an honour to have the opportunity to perform.”

And while Adam brings the entertainment, amateur film-maker Iqbal is hoping to impress Hollywood’s finest with his 11-minute-short film.

Three Minute Warning details the story of Miriam, a girl growing up in Palestine caring for her disabled mother.

One night, an Israeli “knock-on-roof” bomb is dropped onto their home allowing them only three minutes to escape before it is demolished. But will they get out alive?

Iqbal said: “The reason for my trip to Cannes was to meet film festival programmers.

“I’ve felt in the past they’ve been very dismissive but this time I wanted them to feel the person behind the project.”

Iqbal’s film has so far been screened at Limerick Film Festival, and will be hosted at festivals in India, Spain and the UK.
