A 45-year-old man accused of throwing a kettle of boiling water at his partner has made his first appearance before a crown court judge.

Harold Barratt was not asked to enter any plea to the charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm during at preliminary hearing at Bradford Crown Court yesterday .

Barratt, of Keldregate, Deighton, is alleged to have caused grievous bodily harm to Charlene Mphasa during an incident in February.

Judge Christopher Batty told Barratt that he would have to come back to the crown court on September 19 for a plea and case management hearing.

A provisional trial date has been set in the week commencing October 17.

The judge extended Barratt's bail which includes a condition not to contact the complainant.
