A HUDDERSFIELD New College student has been named one of the top four childcare students in the country.

Hannah Lindley beat 80 other entries to reach the final of the Heinemann and Nursery World Childcare Student of the Year Award, where she was named as a runner-up.

Her tutor Alison Osbourne said: “Hannah has a genuine desire to further her knowledge of childcare-related issues and should be praised for her clear sense of purpose and direction.

“Her placement supervisors recognise her superb abilities and the positive influence she has on children.”

Alison nominated Hannah for the award and accompanied her to the event in Oxford on July 2, where one of the judges said that Hannah’s passion, positivity and understanding of childcare shone through.

Hannah said: “Dedication is not just about going and doing, I really do love it.

“All the children I meet are lovely, but sometimes you just have to overcome the barriers they put up and show them that you have an interest in them and recognise how they are special.”

Hannah is currently studying for her BTEC National Diploma in Children’s Care Learning and Development.
