HUDDERSFIELD Royal Infirmary is to have a new entrance.

The entrance and reception area at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary (HRI) last received a major facelift in 1988 – and work to upgrade it is to start immediately.

The new look, which includes a new stone and glass front, is expected to be completed by spring.

The new reception area will feature improved flooring, more energy-efficient LED lighting, new seating areas and new decor.

Work will be carried out between 10pm-6.30am when the main entrance is closed to reduce disruption.

The revamp of the entrance and reception is part of the hospital’s £600,000 project to renovate its main corridors and lift lobbies.

HRI estates manager Paul Gilling said: "This is a major refurbishment and will see positive changes for our patients.

"We are looking forward to welcoming patients to the new and improved hospital entrance very soon."
