This weekend could see Huddersfield weather match Madrid.
But the advice from Huddersfield weatherman Paul Stevens for people looking forward to a bit of sun was: Take a brolly.
He expects the rise in temepratures to 20°C to be accompanied by showers and the chance of thunderstorms by the weekend.
That’s the same as the forecast for Madrid.
But the warmer weather could stick with us for a while and last well into next week.
The Salendine Nook forecaster said: “Enjoy. It’s a welcome change from the cold weather we had just a week ago and more like May should be”.
The rise in temperature will come over the next few days, with low pressure keeping a fair amount of cloud cover over Huddersfield up until the weekend.

“Today we had a pleasant day with temperatures up to 14°C, which is where we should be at this time of year.
“Thursday and Friday will see temperatures rise another degree or two but the cloud will stick around.

“By the time we get to Saturday warm air is being forced north from the Bay of Biscay and that should mean temperatures get up to 20°C. But the warmth is likely to mean showers or even an occasional thunderstorm.
“As we head into next week we will see the temperature stay in the 18
°-21°C range so it will be feeling very warm. and as high pressure moves into the UK it looks set to continue.”
