West Yorkshire Police believe mobile phone footage of an alleged Huddersfield town centre sex attack may be circulating and have asked people not share the videos on social media.

A man appeared in court today accused of raping an unconcious woman in a shop doorway in Cross Church Street.

Christopher Price, 33, of Flockton Moor, was remanded in custody and had his case sent to Leeds Crown Court.

Police said the alleged sexual assault was seen by several witnesses — and some may have mobile phone footage.

Det Insp Paul Savage, of the Kirklees Safeguarding Unit, said: “This is an on going investigation and we believe a number of people witnessed it.

“We also believe that some people filmed the incident on mobile phones and I am appealing for those people to come forward to police with their footage.

“I would also ask that they do not share it on social media sites as by law victims of sexual assaults have life time anonymity.”
