It brings a whole new meaning to the words 'online shopping'.

We've probably all used Google Maps' Streetview tool to plot a route, or find out where something is - but now you can embark on virtual tours of shops and businesses across Huddersfield.

From cafes to clothes stores, pubs to car dealerships, a host of businesses have signed up for an official Google photographer to come and snap their premises.

The pictures allow Google Maps to produce 360-degree views, and users can virtually wander around the stores using the arrow keys.

You can take a look at the goodies in a cafe cake counter, check stores have your favourite product on their shelves (or at least, that they did when the photographs were taken last year) and even admire the shiny new motors at Huddersfield dealerships.

To see which businesses allow you take a sneaky peek via Streetview, all you have to do is hover the little yellow Streetview man over the town centre and surrounding areas, and look for little orange dots to appear.

The dots mark a store or business where a virtual tour is available - simply drop the yellow man onto the dot and start exploring!

You can now also use Google Maps to travel back in time as far as 2007.
