YOUNG Huddersfield actor Alex Watkins is centre stage in a show in Huddersfield this week which is directed by his dad, Alistair Cheetham.

Alex and Alistair are part of the Huddersfield Thespians’ team which is staging John Godber’s play, Happy Families, at the Lawrence Batley Theatre until Saturday.

Working together is nothing new for this father and son with a shared passion for theatre.

They’ve appeared on stage together and it was 20-year-old Alex’s interest in theatre which encouraged his father to follow his theatrical dream too.

Alistair said: “Alex went to Oscars Academy and his involvement was what finally got me involved. I’d always been interested in theatre but things got in the way so Alex has got as much experience as I have in theatre.’’

The cast also includes Steve Marsden, Melanie Hudson, Eric Pratt, Moyra Miller, Dorothea Annison, Paula Scott, Laura Womersley and Ruth Adams.

See Happy Families at the LBT at 7.30pm each evening until Saturday when there is also a matinee at 2.15pm.
