Huddersfield Town’s lottery has raised a staggering £2m in the last 10 years.

It’s a fantastic team effort involving agents collecting the cash on behalf of Town and the thousands who pay in week in and week out.

And now they will celebrate with a special anniversary draw night which will feature past and present Academy players Jon Worthington, Andy Holdsworth, Michael Collins, Jordan Sinnott, Tom Clarke, Danny Schofield, David Mirfin, Jon Stead, Alex Smithies, Duane Holmes and Academy manager Mark Lillis.

The night will also feature the Foundation’s massive draw which will leave one fan £20,000 better off.

When Town came out of administration in 2003 its members’ club the Blue and White Foundation (BWF) along with the On The Move lottery (OTM) were introduced, which help fund the youth Academy.

The Foundation now has 2,150 members.

Since then the BWF, OTM and the Golden Gamble (a matchday half-time draw which guarantees £1,000 per home game) has given more than £2m to the Academy, all raised from fans and people of Huddersfield and surrounding areas.

Huddersfield Town promotions manager Karen Haigh said: “A lot of this money is raised through the BWF but a lot is also raised through our OTM Agents of which we have many who collect a £1 a week off family, friends and neighbours.

“We have over 250 agents with many of them bringing in over £1,300 a year and for this they receive a free season ticket.

“They all do a fantastic job 52 weeks a year but our number one agent is Paul Hobson from Honley who collects from 121 people every week, so raising £6,292 a year for the Academy. Paul receives three season tickets and won the BWF £20,000 draw in its eighth year.”

With the On The Move Lottery, a £1 a week stake gives people 10 chances of winning a share of £2,200 weekly plus a chance at the new £250 rollover jackpot which has a maximum payout of £5,000.

Of course, fans also have a chance to win and over the last 10 years Town has given fans back more than £1m through BWF, OTM, Golden Gamble and raffles!

Each year there is a giant draw, which usually pays out £20,000 and here is the list of winners from the last nine years.

2004 – Helen Whiteley from Brighouse, £10,000.

2005 – Noel Bell from Edgerton, £20,000.

2006 – Sally Fryer from Selby, £25,000.

2007 – Paulette Johnson from Newsome, £30,000.

2008 – Daniel Mozley from Linthwaite, £20,000.

2009 – Gerry Beamond from Edgerton, £20,000.

2010 – Simon Hewlett from Holywell Green, £20,000.

2011 – Paul Hobson from Honley, £20,000.

2012 – Stephen Ridgwick from Linthwaite, £20,000.

Stephen said: “I wanted to support the club and the academy. It’s great to see the young players develop and they seem to be doing the business right now on the field. It all shows that the club is going in right direction and investing in home grown players.”

Stephen’s winnings paid his credit card off and he treated himself to a 4x4 vehicle and his family to a holiday in Rhodes.

The next Blue and White Foundation’s £20,000 draw will take place at Canalside on Thursday, November 14.

There will also be 10 runners-up prizes of £500.

People who join the Blue and White Foundation now will still have a chance to win the big money. It costs 2 a month and for that the fans get several exclusive offers such as special ticket priority for away and cup games and free junior membership.

They are also entered into the On The Move draw and the £20,000 annual draw.

The evening starts at 7pm and will also include entertainment from acoustic guitarist Jacob Crawshaw. There will also be pie and peas and several raffles held throughout the evening.

Tickets for the evening, which will be compered by Town’s Commercial Director Sean Jarvis, are free to Blue and White Foundation members on a first come, first served basis. Members can also bring a guest for £10.
