Huddersfield Town boss Mark Robins was a late name on the teamsheet for a charity Three Peaks Challenge today.

The club’s charity the Town Foundation has organised a corporate fundraising day to take youngsters on a trip to the seaside.

A team of 25 walkers, including Town chairman Dean Hoyle and directors Sean Jarvis and Ann Hough, will tackle Yorkshire’s three peaks inside 12 hours.

To complete the challenge the group must conquer Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent, covering a distance of 24.5 miles.

The walkers will be accompanied by a team from Kuta Outdoors, who will provide expert guidance.

The walkers, also including Examiner commercial director Paul O’Halloran, were due to meet Dean and wife Janet at Horton-in-Ribblesdale at 6.45am.

Fans can follow the progress of the walkers on Twitter using the #3Peaks and @townfoundation.

The foundation was set up by Dean to help children across Kirklees. Dean matches every pound raised.

The foundation now serves 1,000 breakfasts a day at 15 schools throughout the district.

Corporate fundraising officer Mandy Taylor said it was hoped several thousand pounds would be raised by the walk.

She said she was delighted Mark Robins had been able to take part at the last minute.

“We are a mixed group of all age ranges and abilities but we have one goal – to raise as much as possible,” she added.

“Every penny counts and we hope people will keep donating via our Just Giving page throughout the day.

“The more money we raise the more children we can take to the seaside.”
