Mother nature managed to upstage Huddersfield Town and Brighton and Hove on Tuesday by putting on a show all of her own during the match at the John Smith’s Stadium.

For soccer fans were distracted by a beautiful sunset which bathed the late summer sky in reds, pinks, purples and blues.

They took to Twitter and Facebook to share their lovely pictures with us.

Gus Thresh said: “I thought my captured the great sky and also the action in the game perfectly with Davidson’s throw in the foreground,” while Declan Bailey described the sunset as ‘a beaut’.

However the players were able to keep their minds on the job, with Jacob Butterfield scoring in the 54th minute to bring the match to a 1-1 draw.
