UP to 10cm of snow could hit parts of Huddersfield this week.

That was the warning last night from Huddersfield weather expert Paul Stevens, as sleet and snow were forecast.

Wintry showers are expected to hit the town this morning and by later in the day they could well have turned to snow in many areas.

Paul, of Salendine Nook, warned that the hills around the town could well see falls of up to 10cm, with half that expected areas such as Outlane and parts of the Colne and Holme valleys.

“Even the town centre is likely to get sleet as the rain is met with a north-easterly wind.

“This time last week we had temperatures of 20°C so it will feel remarkably colder as temperatures drop to around 3°C today and tomorrow, and even colder in the evenings.

“There is a chance that we could see minus temperatures in some areas and with a strong north-east wind, the chill factor will make it like minus 5°C.”

The remainder of the week is set to remain cool and cloudy but with only the odd wintry shower.
