Huddersfield’s brightest young dancers are hoping to win silverware at a prestigious contest this weekend.

Pupils from the Adele Taylor School of Dance in the town centre and Rhythms School of Dance at Milnsbridge are packing their leotards and heading to Blackpool for the Miss Dance/Dance Master finals.

Six pupils from Adele Taylor’s school have qualified and one from Rhythms.

Adele’s include Jessica Sierant, Ben Holloway, James Buckley, Maddie Lawton, Eloise Gledhill and Victoria Quinlan.

“The school has had the joy of two previous winners,” said Adele.

“All the students have worked very hard to compete for finals and are very excited and nervous.”

Jessica, Eloise and Ben have all competed in the finals previously, with Ben placing third last year.

To reach the event at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens on Sunday, June 7 they had to qualify in a heat against 30 other competitors.

Rhythms’ pupil, Miriam Clay, will also be there hoping to succeed.

Her teacher, Joanne Scaddon, said: “We are all truly proud of Miriam, it is an excellent opportunity and achievement!

“Miriam is my first dancer who has qualified for the finals and we can’t wait to support her on the day.”

Miriam, who is studying dance at Leeds Beckett University, said: “I can’t wait to get out into the real world and follow my dreams – I definitely want to try and pursue my passion for dance.

“I aim to either dance abroad or on the cruise ships, then eventually I want to teach and share my passion with other young children.”
