Morrisons is to open a new store - in Huddersfield town centre.
And they will move into the Burger King fast food restaurant on King Street, which closed yesterday.
The retail giant is seeking a licence from Kirklees Council covering them to open from 6am until midnight daily.
Neither Morrisons nor Burger King would comment on the plans when contacted by the Examiner earlier this week when rumours first surfaced.
Morrisons told us: “We do not make comments on speculation about our developments.”
But yesterday contractors began ripping out the interior of Burger King. They said they were not taking the equipment to any other Huddersfield venue.
And Morrisons revealed that they submitted an application for a premises licence to Kirklees Council on Thursday.
It’s likely the Morrisons store will be one of its ‘M’ local convenience stores.
