Suspected human remains have been found in the hunt for a missing sex offender.

Detectives carrying out a search for Robert Hind also known as Dack , who was last seen on Wednesday in Dewsbury, made the grisly discovery in the Colne Valley this afternoon.

Police teams have today recovered suspected human remains in the area of the River Colne adjacent to Colne Vale Road in Milnsbridge.

An underwater search team, dog teams and specialised search officers are currently investigating the scene.

A 46-year-old man remains in police custody on suspicion of murder.

West Yorkshire Police, Senior Investigating Officer, Superintendent Scott Wood said: "The remains recovered from the river and its banks will now be forensically examined and enquiries are currently ongoing to identify them.

"An address on Manchester Road in Huddersfield is also being searched as part of our investigations.

"Neighbourhood Policing Teams are conducting high visibility patrols in each of these areas responding to any concerns locally.

"I am continuing to appeal for anyone with information in relation to this enquiry to come forward as a matter of urgency. You can call us on the non emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111."
