HUNDREDS of people are set to shuffle like the undead through the streets of Huddersfield next week.

The town’s fifth Halloween Zombie Slouch takes place on Saturday October 29.

This year’s event comes with a twist as it will celebrate Mexico’s famous Day of the Dead festival.

Their people honour their dead by staging large carnivals where people dress up in ornate costumes and make their faces up as skulls.

Setting off from St George’s Square at 3pm, zombies will parade through the town’s streets. At the end of the event, a zombie king and queen will be crowned.

This year’s slouch will raise money for Survival International, which works for the rights of tribal people.

This year organisers are running craft nights to enable participants to work with professional artists to create authentic Day of the Dead accessories.

The next one takes place in The Blue Rooms, Byram Arcade, from 6pm on Wednesday.

There will be a charge to cover materials and participants can make decorative skull ornaments, marigolds and other accessories.
