A GIRL gang attacked a woman in Honley.

The four laughing teenagers dragged the woman by her hair into the road, leaving her with leg and arm injuries.

Now police have appealed for help in tracking down the young thugs.

Det Sgt Jim Carter, of Huddersfield Police, said: "Honley is a small community and I am sure people will be appalled by incidents like this."

The 49-year-old woman had been out for a birthday meal with friends and was on her way home about 10pm on Thursday, April 2, when she was attacked.

She was walking up Bradshaw Road and was aware of being followed by a group of teenagers.

As she rang her daughter to tell her she was on her way home, two of the girls ran up, grabbed her hair and swung her into the road.

All four ran off laughing, leaving their victim with grazes to her arms and legs.

Det Sgt Carter said: "There was no attempt to grab her mobile phone nor to demand money. It was simply a case of a random attack."

All four girls were thought to be aged about 15. One was of mixed race with shoulder-length dark hair.
