Police were last night still hunting a gunman who shot four people in Lockwood.

One of the victims remained in hospital in a “serious” condition, but his injuries are said to be non life-threatening.

The others suffered shotgun wounds to their legs after the drama in the early hours of Tuesday morning in St Stephen’s Road, off Lockwood Road.

Police have described the attack as “targeted” and arrested three of the victims on suspicion of alleged drugs offences.

But they were all released on bail during the course of yesterday.

The gunman, who was said to be masked, burst into the flat at 2.30am and fired a shotgun at the four male occupants, aged 26, 18, 25 and 24.

The 24-year-old suffered the serious injuries and has undergone treatment at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

The quiet street was sealed off for several hours as detectives conducted house to house inquiries and forensic experts made fingertip searches of the area.

Police have renewed an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
