HUW Thatcher’s family told how they hope to set up a charitable trust in his memory.
The 15-year-old was born three years after the death of Daniel Yorath, the son of former Huddersfield Town assistant manager Terry Yorath.
Daniel collapsed during a kickabout with his dad in the garden of their Leeds home in 1992.
He was later found to have been suffering from cardiomyopathy, a hereditary heart disease. He was the same age as Huw at the time of his death.
Daniel Yorath House, a charity set up to help people with brain injuries was set up.
In a tribute read at his funeral yesterday, Huw’s family said they hoped to be able to support the charity’s good work.
They said: “We all need to grieve, but we won’t want to stand still for too long, because we want to harness your energy, emotion and love, especially the young people here today are giving us.
“Maybe we will set up a Huw Thatcher trust and a community committee.”
Huw’s team Hepworth United Juniors under-15s will play their first match since his death against Wyke Wanderers on Sunday.
