A HEADTEACHER said farewell to a school and pupils she described as “wonderful”.

Sue Thompson has retired as headteacher of Mount Pleasant Junior and Infant School after 12 years.

She said she would miss all her colleagues and pupils at the Lockwood Road school.

Mrs Thompson said: “I have enjoyed 12 extremely happy years at Mount Pleasant since I became the first headteacher of the through school.

“I have always done my best and worked very hard to serve the community well.

“I have had the privilege of working with a team of dedicated and loyal colleagues and now I leave with many fond memories and will never forget the support and kindness the parents have always offered me and my colleagues.

“The partnership between home and school is a very special one and I am sure they will continue to support the school in preparing the children for the future.

“The children at Mount Pleasant are truly wonderful and I will miss them all.”

Deputy headteacher Margaret Dimmock said the school held a special assembly to say goodbye to Mrs Thompson and presented her with flowers and gifts.
