A man has admitted to assaulting a drinker at a Dewsbury pub.

Ibrar Mehrban, of no fixed address, admitted to the attack at the Station Hotel in the town on March 23.

Kirklees Magistrates’ Court was told that the victim was Craig Allen, who had earlier been ejected from the pub.

Others were telling Mr Allen to leave the area and Mehrban became involved.

The 27-year-old took him to one side and punched him in the face, knocking him backwards.

Mehrban then went up to Allen, put his hand out as if he was going to shake his hand, and punched him again.

Zara Begum, mitigating, said that her client had been drinking quite a lot and involved himself in matters that didn’t concern him.

Mehrban was sentenced to a community order with 20 days of rehabilitative activities.

He also has to pay £60 victim surcharge.
