THE owners of an ice cream parlour at the centre of a planning row have submitted a new application.
Geoffrey and Audrey Wraithmell, who run Charlotte's Ice Cream Parlour in Mirfield, have put in plans to retain its crazy golf course - despite being ordered to rip it out.
They have also applied to extend the ice cream parlour, which is on Whitley Road.
It is the latest instalment in a planning battle that has spanned two years.
In October last year the Government's Planning Inspectorate told Mr Wraithmell to dig up the 18-hole fun course.
He had appealed against Kirklees Council's earlier decision to order him to get rid of the course. The council said the course had no planning permission and was on Green Belt land.
After months of wrangling the Wraithmells and Kirklees finally faced off against each other in September, at a special hearing at Dewsbury Town Hall.
The day-long hearing - chaired by an inspector from the Planning Inspectorate - heard Mr Wraithmell's pleas to keep the course.
He also said he had been supported by a 3,000-name petition.
The Examiner contacted Mr Wraithmell, but he refused to comment at this time.
