JOYRIDERS have stolen and torched a disabled mother’s car.

Denise Burns, 59, of Honley, was left housebound after thieves took her Ford Fiesta on February 6.

The car, which had her disabled badge clearly on display, was found burned out near Castle Hill the following day.

Mother-of-four Mrs Burns, of Roundway, had a stroke 10 years ago. Since then she has suffered weakness on the left side of her body and walks with a stick.

She also suffers from epilepsy and respiratory problems.

Mrs Burns, who is on disability benefits, says that since the theft she has been unable to visit her father John Peter, 79, in Mirfield, who lost his wife in September.

She adds that even shopping trips will be virtually impossible until her insurance company replaces her car.

Mrs Burns said: “I felt absolutely sick when I found my car had been taken. They’ve no morals whatsoever.

“They must seen my disabled badge. They must’ve known I needed it. It’s the lowest of the low.

“It’s awful managing with it. I feel trapped.”
