POLICE closed a Batley road for more than eight hours after finding a seriously injured man on the street.
Officers shut part of Bradford Road near Rouse Mill Lane shortly after 2am today after discovering a man with "serious" head injuries.
The unidentified man was taken to Dewsbury District Hospital before later being transferred to the Leeds General Infirmary.
Scene of crime officers combed the scene overnight and continued work on the road until shortly before 9am this morning.
Police said investigations into the incident were continuing.
