POLICE have found a haul of suspected stolen property and now need to trace the victims.

The haul includes a complete collection of Inspector Morse books - and if the owner comes forward to claim them the fictional detective could end up helping to solve the mystery.

The items were all discovered during a police investigation in Oldham.

Other items were traced back to thefts from cars in the Slaithwaite area late last week.

Now police wonder if the other items were stolen from the Colne Valley or anywhere else in the Huddersfield area.

Det Con Russ Conlon, of Kirklees CID intelligence unit, said: "The thefts could have been from cars, garages, sheds, outhouses, firms or homes.

"It is a diverse collection of property and but we believe it all to be stolen."

The haul includes Wedgwood plates, cups and saucers featuring scenes from York and Oxford, a silver Airoh motorcycle helmet, a black, silver and orange Evolution Stihl saw, Bosch and Makita power drills and a yellow Karcher power washer.

Anyone who believes these items were stolen from them should phone Pc Mark Lunn on 0845 6060606.
