A CHARITY'S hall has been redecorated with help from a band of volunteers.

Sixteen Kirklees Council staff joined forces with Mencap members to repaint the charity's base at Waverley Hall at Highfields, near Huddersfield town centre.

The Kirklees staff work for its revenues and benefits section.

The repainting was organised through Voluntary Action Kirklees.

Drinks and food were served to them by Mencap's Anthony Horsfall and a group of people with learning disabilities.

Kirklees employee Hashwinder Bhutta said: "I've been on other team-building events that were fun, but this was both fun and worthwhile."

Revenues and benefits training officer Geoff Carr said: "I can't believe how good it looks. The team did a fantastic job."

Mencap chief executive Jill Robson said: "We'd had some structural work done at Waverley Hall and were wondering how we were going to pay for the building to be redecorated inside.

"But it was all done in a day.We are very grateful to the volunteers for all their hard work."
