TWO Shelley College pupils have proved to be the best of British.

Schoolfriends Charlotte Rogers and Lindsey Anderson collected their GCSE results yesterday, along with thousands of others.

And both were delighted to find themselves in the top five students in the country for English literature - from 373,000 who took the exam.

Charlotte, 16, of Shepley, sat 10 subjects and picked up nine A* grades and a B in maths.

Lindsay, 16, from Thurstonland, collected seven A*s and four As.

Charlotte said: "English literature was my favourite subject."

Lindsay said: "It was wonderful to get the results. To get a letter saying we were in the top five in the country was amazing."

* Nicole Thomas, of Holmfirth, who studied at Hulme Grammar School for Girls in Oldham, gained seven A* grades and 3 As.

* Four Huddersfield students at Bradford Grammar School collected all their results at A* or A grade.

They were Alex Bostrom, of Fixby, with 12 subjects; Rehaan Khan, of Bradley Bar, with 11; Charles Godavitarne, of Fixby, with 10; and Josh Oldham, also of Fixby, with 10.
