EXPERIENCE is on the side of eight women whose team has come top of the third division of the Huddersfield Netball League.
Several of the members of the Cobwood Trophies Veterans team have played together for 20 years.
Fran Valentine and Christine Mellor, who are both 52, have been playing since they were nine years old. They were pupils together at Crow Lane Junior School in Milnsbridge.
Fran, of Barkisland, formerly of Salendine Nook, said: "It's great. We just know who to pass the ball to.
"We are really good friends and get on well. It's the camaraderie that keeps us together.
"We have a good laugh and socialise. We have gone though our pregnancies and through our ups and downs."
The team, which has an average age of 53, is based at Moor End Technology College at Crosland Moor.
The women also play in the Halifax League and came second in the second division this year.
Fran said: "We have had a very successful year for a bunch of old fogies."
