VOLUNTEERS rolled up their sleeves to improve an area of Paddock blighted by fly- tipping.
They tackled a neglected green space off Clough Lane, below Paddock Head roundabout.
Six people took part in the clear-up as part of a project to create a ramped footpath through the woods.
The footpath will provide access from Paddock to the riverside and give people an alternative to using the steep steps already there.
The volunteers pruned trees and removed undergrowth. They also cleared vegetation from a dilapidated dry stone wall, soon to be restored.
Bob Eades, of the Environmental Alliance, who is leading the revamp scheme, said: "This is a fantastic example of local people coming together to make their neighbourhood a better place to live."
Members of Paddock Community Forum and volunteers from Kirklees Council were among those who took part.
