CHILDREN have been getting back to nature as part of a programme of events being staged in Greenhead Park.

The youngsters enjoyed making bird feeders, which have now been put up around the park to encourage wildlife.

It was one of the activities the Nature Club participated in as part of a series of events organised for visitors during half-term week.

Other activities included pond surveys and bird box building by the Young Wardens group and a special magic club.

The £4m project to restore the park to its former glory is nearing completion.

Park Activity Officer Chris Smith was appointed to organise activities to encourage people into the park. As well as the children’s clubs, which will continue once the children go back to school, there will be special events, an increased sports provision and even open air theatre.
