Staff from insurance company LV= have come to the rescue of gardeners at Mirfield’s Hollybank Trust.

The company has paid £750 for a new cover on the polytunnel, in which students and adult residents spend many hours tending seeds and bulbs.

LV=, based at Folly Hall Mills in St Thomas Road, Huddersfield, also bought new equipment for inside the polytunnel including benches and a new irrigation system.

A group of 10 LV= staff gave up their time to spend the day clearing out and cleaning the polytunnel to ready it for the new equipment.

Kelly Blagbrough, community support coordinator from LV=, said: “It’s great to be able to continue our work with Hollybank Trust and to give our employees the opportunity to make a real difference to the local community.

“The work done by Hollybank Trust is fantastic and we look forward to continuing our partnership with them.”

Fundraiser Suzanne Barton said: “The re-covering and refurbishment of the polytunnel is another wonderfully kind project that our friends at LV= have got stuck into.

“It will be a huge benefit to all the people we look after.”
