A CHRISTMAS-mad Marsden man, whose all- night festive illuminations annoyed his neighbours, has agreed to pull the plug out at 11pm sharp.

Jason Diamond's neighbours complained the bright lights shining into their homes were bringing little Christmas cheer in the early hours as they and their children struggled to sleep.

"In the interest of goodwill to all men and to break the deadlock in the argument, I have resolved the situation myself by approaching the neighbours and agreeing to turn the lights off all together at 11pm," said 31-year-old Mr Diamond, of Dirker Avenue.

"Hopefully , people will still enjoy the lights and get a peaceful night's sleep.

"We may all still have a Merry Christmas!"

Mr Diamond, a father of six, reached the agreement with neighbours after they contacted Kirklees Council to see if the illuminations constituted a nuisance.

With little effective power, council staff advised householders to try to solve the problem themselves.
