A HUDDERSFIELD student has put in a special effort to raise awareness for Macmillan Cancer Relief.

Jenny Farmer, 19, of Almondbury, entered the Liverpool Half Marathon and received a medal for finishing the 13-mile race.

Jenny, who is studying for a degree in English language and linguistics at York University, chose to help the Macmillan charity because it supported her uncle several years ago.

She raised cash for the charity last September by completing the half- marathon Great North Run.

She said: "I have been volunteering for Macmillan, too. This was my first Liverpool half-marathon, which I finished in 2hr and 28min. I'm very happy with that."

Jenny plans to run the Great North Run again this year for Macmillan.

Chris Farrell, the charity's events manager, said: "I am confident our runners will have raised lots of money to help people living with cancer.
