Jilted girlfriend Sheryl Morgan took revenge on her love rival - ramming her car.

Now she has been given a suspended jail sentence after she followed her former partner in Huddersfield and twice drove into the back of his new woman’s car.

Sentencing Morgan at Leeds Crown Court Recorder Nick Lumley QC said jealousy had turned to anger and got the better of her.

“Your other half moved on and you couldn’t or wouldn’t accept it and you wanted to see who it was he had left you for.”

Beth Richardson prosecuting told the court Morgan’s relationship with Jonathan Joseph had not ended amicably.

On May 12 he was with Emma Evans, with whom he had begun a new relationship. They were in her Audi A6 outside Cheeky Monkeys play centre in Wakefield Road, Huddersfield when they noticed Morgan in her car nearby.

They decided to drive away to avoid a confrontation and Miss Evans reached a junction in Wakefield Road when she had to stop, Morgan had followed and drove into the back of the Audi.

Miss Evans drove on but decided to stop further on and check the damage. When they saw Morgan again approaching they swapped seats and Mr Joseph drove away accelerating to get away from her.

Miss Richardson said he had to slow in Fernside Avenue, Almondbury and Morgan again drove into the back and continued to follow them as they drove over speed bumps before she lost control and crashed her car into two bollards.

Members of the public went to her aid but she rejected their help and approached Mr Joseph shouting at him and slapping him in the face calling him “a w..ker” and Miss Evans a “skinny bitch.”

She then began kicking at his legs. The police attended and arrested Morgan.

Rachel Smith for Morgan said she had never been in trouble before and the actions were totally out of character for her. She was in a relationship for two years with Mr Joseph and was upset at his behaviour.“She is extremely remorseful for her actions.”

Morgan, 47 of Coniston Avenue, Dalton, admitted dangerous driving and assault by beating Mr Joseph.

She was given an eight month prison sentence suspended for 12 months with 60 hours unpaid work, disqualified from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £340 prosecution costs.

Recorder Lumley told her the incident must have been terrifying for Mr Joseph and his new partner as well as for others who witnessed it but fortunately only minor injury was caused to him in the assault.
