GET those vocal chords warmed up and ready for Huddersfield’s Big Sing.

Hundreds of singers are expected to converge on St George’s Square in May for the first ever Yorkshire Big Sing.

And everyone’s invited to join in the fun – even the more vocally challenged.

Reviving a 200-year-old Yorkshire tradition for coming together and singing in open spaces, the Yorkshire Big Sing will celebrate singing in the region.

The huge choir will be performing Yorkshire-themed songs including On Ilkley Moor Baht ’at and a brand new Yorkshire anthem being commissioned from South Yorkshire poet and songwriter Ian MacMillan.

Amanda Vickers from Involve Yorkshire and Humber, said: “Everything we sing will be fun, accessible and some of the best Yorkshire music ever written.”

Groups are invited to take part as well as individuals.

It will take place on Saturday May 21, starting at 11am.
