HUDDERSFIELD people are being invited to help shape their hospital services.

The board of Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust wantaB more local people to join its free membership scheme.

More than 6,500 people have already signed up as members to receive regular newsletters, invitations to special events and the opportunity to comment on proposals about new services.

Now even more people are being urged to share their views.

Trust chairman Sukhdev Sharma said: “Everyone takes pride in our hospitals and this is reflected in the quality of our services and the recognition we get for them.

“Our members play a pivotal role in the exchange of ideas between us and the community we serve.

“We welcome and encourage people with all manner of skills, interests and experience to join us, and help us to shape the future direction of our hospital services.”

The trust was granted foundation status in August last year, giving it less financial control by the Government.

As part of its new status it had to recruit local people to become members to help influence decision-making and have a say in how services are provided.

A membership council is elected from the members, to support the board in making decisions throughout the year.

Members must be aged 16 or over and live in the area.

Anyone interested should call the membership office on 01484 347342, email member ship@cht.nhs.uk or visit the website at www.cht.nhs.uk
