IMAGINE the Peak District 80 years from now.

Will the landscape be dominated by wind turbines, forestry plantations or even a motorway?

Environmentalists, academics and planners are joining forces to produce models for the future and provide some answers.

They hope to raise environmental awareness among policy-makers and the public.

The Peak District National Park includes large areas of Meltham and the Holme valley.

A spokesman for the Peak District National Park Authority said: "There are some huge issues to consider when we try to look to the future of the park's landscape.

"Changes in climate, agricultural practices and how we live, work and travel will all have an impact."

He added: "If we can begin to think ahead about these changes and their potential impact we can start to plan positively."
