THE jury in a rape trial was yesterday sent home for the day after the complainant failed to turn up at court to give evidence.

Simon Nash, 38, of Lydgate Drive, New Mill, Huddersfield, is alleged to have spiked the woman's drink with the drug GHB before assaulting and raping her.

On Monday the case was opened by prosecutor Andrew Kershaw and the jury were due to hear the woman's evidence yesterday.

Judge Jonathan Durham Hall told the jury that he would find out why she had not shown up but asked them not to speculate about the reason for her absence.

Nash denies charges of administering a substance with intent, false imprisonment and three counts of rape.
