The jury in the trial of a teenager accused of murdering Sean Annandale has retired to consider its verdict.

The jurors were sent out just after 12noon after hearing the final summing-up of the evidence from the judge.

Jamal Buckle, 18, is alleged to have murdered 22-year-old Mr Annandale during an early-hours street confrontation in Golcar last August.

Mr Annandale was stabbed four times, including once in the heart, during the incident outside Buckle’s flat in Elmfield Avenue.

The prosecution has alleged that Buckle armed himself with a knife before coming out of his flat, but the teenager has claimed he picked up the weapon from the ground during a fight with Mr Annandale.

Buckle, who was 17 at the time, said he didn’t mean to kill or seriously hurt Mr Annandale when he punched him with the knife still in his hand.
